522 E. Burlington Street, Iowa City, circa 1993

Here's a group of pictures that I found recently. As best as I can tell, these are from the spring of 1993 (the photo envelope has a development date of 4/8/1993). By this point, I think that I had moved out of the apartment to work at WMT in Cedar Rapids.

The first few appear to be just random pictures from our apartment on Burlington Street in Iowa City. The middle section are from some dinner party we held in the apartment. The final group are more random snapshots. They're all in chronological order.

"Boy the way Glen Miller played…"

Ken and Christopher on milk cratesIn college, milk crates were a popular storage device (other than cinder blocks, of course). We even used them as speaker stands. I think we stole these from Econofoods or Hy-Vee (where there's a helpful smile in every aisle!). I also remember a dilemma when I or someone else moved out. It's illegal to steal milk crates from the local grocer, so we weren't sure how were were going to dispose of them when the time came. I'm sure they found a good home.

Anna Isn't Anna cute?

Dave in red Dave's lookin' pretty sharp here! I didn't think that any of us could afford threads that nice!

Anna and Matt Anna is obviously shocked by what she sees on T.V.; Matt, on the other hand, is dubious of the photographer.

"…songs that made the Hit Parade…"

Dinner's over! This is the start of a series of pictures following a spaghetti dinner we had. A few thoughts come to mind with this picture:

Me smoking A post-culinary puff by me (much like a post-coital puff, but much less satisfying). I hope my parents don't see this picture! And how 'bout that stylin' furniture! I still have that coffee table, BTW. Note the milk crates as speaker stands, too.

Anna and Matt drinking wine Anna and Matt enjoying a sip of wine. Actually, it probably was more than just a sip. I just hope the wine was more Italian than the jar of Ragu.

"…guys like us we had it made…"

David and Albert David asks Albert, "Why am I wearing a pink shirt?"

Kick Barker's Ass 9-week 10k run Does anyone remember exactly what this was about? I mean, this is a lot of effort to overcome a supposed adversary. Did Christopher eventually beat John, or was it the other way around?

Me eating and studying Wow. I was so busy, that actually studied while eating. Must be a fluke.

Julie and Ken Awww…how cute! Back when Ken was dating Julie. Note how everyone is smiling…even the monster in the mirror! It must've been checking Julie out.
